aBOUT THE DOCUMENTARY
The Cove by Louie Psihoyos debuted in early 2009. The purpose of this documentary was to draw attention to the 20,000+ dolphin and porpoise slaughter that occurs each September in Taiji, Japan. The Cove stars Ric O'Barry, the man who trained the dolphins for the TV show Flipper, as well as other activists, some divers, and photographers. Every one of these people have a personal reason as to why they want to stop this annual slaughter from occurring. The documentary shows them banding together in order to gain photos and videos of this hunt in action so they can show the world what is happening. They hope that with enough support, the Oceanic Preservation Society will pass a law that will make this hunt illegal in Taiji and everywhere else.
